Upcoming Course Request Deadline

Please remind your current Grade 10 and/or 11 students to submit their course requests for next year in MyCBE PowerSchool. These requests are due by 4:00 pm on Monday, March 16. After this time, changes will need to be made through the Student Success Centre.

For support with course requests, please see the Guidance Page of the JCS Website. For course information and help with MyCBE PowerSchool, please visit the Registration Page of the website.

Prayer Room Ramadan Availability

With the recent adjustments to prayer times, the Choir Room will be available as a Ramadan prayer space beginning at 1:47 p.m. Students wishing to participate are asked to complete the Multi-Faith Prayer Room Guideline form. Please ask your students to ensure they are away from class for no more than 15 minutes to take part in prayer.  Ramadan Mubarak.

Graduation Ceremony Fees

Over one-third of our grade 12 students have not yet paid their graduation ceremony fees. These fees are essential to support the JCS Graduation 2026 Ceremony. For more information, please visit the JCS Graduation Ceremony Webpage

If your student is 18 or older, they must complete a Releasing Independent Student Information from The Calgary Board of Education to Others form available at the JCS Main Office to grant parents access to their PowerSchool account for payment of any outstanding fees.

Graduation Banquet Ticket Sales

We have sold 850 graduation banquet tickets!  Graduation banquet tickets are available for purchase until April 5 at a cost of $130 per seat.  Please note that all school fees need to be paid before the optional banquet tickets fee can be purchased.  Please allow one business day for fee payments to be processed before the banquet ticket sales option appear in your PowerSchool account.  For more information please visit the JCS Graduation Banquet Webpage.

Why do all fees need to be paid before purchasing banquet tickets?  We appreciate and understand that financial circumstances can vary, and we ensure that students continue to receive full access to learning opportunities. However, we are unable to issue grad banquet tickets to students who have outstanding school fees. These fee payments are essential to maintaining the quality of programs and experiences that benefit all students.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent teacher conferences will be held online on Friday March 20 from 8:30 am - 2:00 pm. Bookings opened on Wednesday March 11 at 4:00 pm and close on Wednesday March 18 at 11:00 pm to allow teachers to prepare for the meetings. Please see the MyCBE – Book a Conference page for support with booking conferences.

Diploma Exam Accommodation

Students scheduled to write a diploma exam in June who require the use of a cell phone for medical reasons (e.g., diabetes management) must submit a Unique Accommodations application to Alberta Education. Please contact Mr. Brown or Ms. Lloyd for additional information.

Returning Grade 12 Applications

Grade 12 students who are unable to Graduate with a High School Diploma or obtain a Certificate of Completion by the end of the 2025-26 School Year are welcome to apply to return for an additional year of high school. Students need to speak with their student advisors and assistant principals to discuss the application process. Further information regarding this process can be found on Fourth Years of High School administrative regulation 6093.

Jazz Café

JCS will be hosting Jazz Café featuring Instrumental and Vocal Jazz ensembles on March 18 at 7:00pm. Please use this link for advanced tickets.

School Fees

All school fees are now posted in PowerSchool. Please ensure that all fees are paid in a timely manner through the myCBE PowerSchool Portal. CBE offers many flexible payment options. If you have any questions, please contact our Business Manager Michelle Tremblay.

Student Success Centre (SSC)

Course Registrations for next year!

Grade 10 & 11 students are asked to:

1- Return their course selection form with student and parent signatures. Forms can be handed in to the office or their period 2 teacher. If your student’s form is lost, you can find it on the JCS School Website – Guidance page.

2- Complete course selections on PowerSchool. The instructions for completing these course requests in PowerSchool can be found on the guidance page of the JCS website or the SSC D2L page that your student has access to.

Please have PowerSchool registration completed by March 16th, 2026.

For further details and instructions on course registration, please see the Guidance Page of the JCS School Website.

Are You ready to Graduate?

Grade 12 students are asked to:

1- Complete and sign the ‘Are you Ready to Graduate?’ form, which can also be found on the JCS Guidance page of the school website. They can be handed in to the office or Period 2 teacher.

2- Set up a MyPass account.

Instructions on how to do this can be found here, or on the Guidance page of the school website.

When setting up a MyPass account, it is critical that students use a personal email address, and not a CBE email address. All graduated students’ CBE email addresses will be deleted in August of 2026.

Summer School Information – the Student Success Centre will not be receiving any information on Summer School until early/mid-April.  Once the information is received, it will be posted on the Student Success Centre D2L and the Raven Post.
