Traffic Safety

Ensuring our students get to school safely is everyone’s responsibility. Please be mindful of crosswalks, parking rules and speed limits when you are near our schools, especially during the morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal times.

Traffic Safety Reminders from The City of Calgary

The City wants to remind and encourage anyone who is driving children to school to operate their vehicles safely and responsibly. Parents and guardians are reminded not to park where it’s prohibited during drop off and pick up times, such as blocking crosswalks, laneways and private driveways.

Pick up and drop off times can get quite busy. Give yourself extra time to navigate safely around schools, whether you are walking, wheeling, or driving. For those who drive, help alleviate congestion by parking a block or two away and walking in, wherever possible.

Talk to your kids about safe travel practices like using crosswalks with patrols, looking all ways before crossing the street and not jaywalking across the roadways as a shortcut.

Student Parking

JCSHS STUDENT PARKING APPLICATION PROCESS

Student Parking Passes are a privilege granted to students upon parental approval and submission of a form requesting a parking pass for their student. Students are expected to adhere to the following:

1 | Parking is a privilege, not a right and may be revoked at any time.

2 | Speeding, stunting, unsafe driving, or sitting in vehicles during school hours (including lunchtime) is not permitted.

3 | Vehicles parked without a valid JCS Student Parking Pass may be ticketed and/or towed at the vehicle owner's expense.

4 | Changes to vehicles or license plates will be submitted to the school at joanecardinalschubert@cbe.ab.ca

5 | Students are to park in the designated Student Parking Lot only. Students may not park in the Seton YMCA or Staff Parking Lots.

6 | Violations of the Student Code of Conduct may result in Parking Passes being revoked at an administrator’s discretion.

7 | Parking Passes are sold through this registration process with priority for grade 12s, then 11s and 10s. Parking passes do not guarantee availability of a spot, nor are they assigned.

8 | In the event of a motor vehicle accident or damage to vehicles, Calgary Police Services are responsible for handling the matter and should be reported to them.

If students or guests of JCS are experiencing conduct in the parking lot that does not meet the above guidelines, they should speak to an administrator for support.
