Key Study Guides

Castlerock is our provider for ordering extra support keys for students. The keys are not mandatory but offered as assistance for students in each subject. Please use this link to order. Orders close October 2 and all items will be delivered to the school approximately three business days later for distribution at the main office.

Language Course Challenge

The primary purpose of the CBE Language Course Challenge program is to assist students in meeting all requirements for high school graduation. Registration priority is therefore granted to Grade 12 students who require the program to meet graduation requirements in the current school year. Other students are also welcome to apply to the program. 30-level language course challenges are offered twice per year. There are fall (October-November) and winter (March-April) sessions. A student can challenge one language course only per session.

Students who wish to challenge a 30- or 35-level language course may do so by completing the Language Course Challenge Consent Form available on page 15 of the CBE Course Challenge Guide for Students and Families.  The Language Challenge Consent Form is due to the JCS main office by Wednesday, October 1.

Students are encouraged to see Mr. Langille, Ms. Alves, Ms. Gilbertson or Ms. Lloyd prior to Sept 26 if they have any questions.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

On Thursday September 25, Raven Time will be utilized to discuss the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. As the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation federal holiday falls on Tuesday September 30, JCS will celebrate Orange Shirt Day on Friday September 26. We are honoured to welcome Indigenous presenters to mark the event and present to classes who have signed up. Please encourage your students to wear orange shirts on Friday September 26.

Post-Secondary Events at JCS

The JCS Student Success Centre has set up many events with Post-Secondary Institutions to have them come into the school and meet with students to assist in planning their future. Please see the scheduled events coming up for more details.

School Council and Parent Society

The JCS School Council is comprised of a group of parents that advise the principal on school matters, focusing on policy, planning, and student well-being. The JCS Parent Society is a separate group, also consisting of parents, focused on raising funds for the school. Parents may serve on either group or both. These groups help improve the learning at Joane Cardinal-Schubert High School. The next School Council meeting is at 7:00pm on Thursday, September 25 in the main hub. Please feel free to join, as everyone is welcome. The Parent Society meeting will follow after the completion of the School Council meeting.

Student Parking Passes

Parents of students who requested parking passes for the 2025-26 school year received an email last week with a registration link to approve the parking pass fee being added to PowerSchool. The fee will appear in PowerSchool once the parking pass is ready for pickup in the Main Office. Parents will need to pay for the parking pass and then send their student to the Main Office to pick it up. Students will be asked to sign the parking pass agreement before receiving their pass.

Lockers

Lockers were distributed to students who requested them on Thursday September 18 and Friday September 19 in their Period 1 class. Any student with a Period 1 spare were asked to visit the main office to pick up their locker information.
