Grad is next Thursday, May 15 at the BMO Centre and there is no school for all students that day. For information regarding Grad, please see the Week of Grad Parent Message

Exam Schedule

The June 2025 Final Assessment and Exam Schedule is now live on the JCS Website. You can find it on the Exams Page and as a news article on the main page. Please ensure you read over the JCS Student Final Assessment and Exam Expectations and go over it with your student to ensure they do not invalidate their exams.

Skills Alberta Provincial Award Winners

A large contingent of JCS Ravens attended the Skils Alberta Provincials Competition May 6 – 8, 2025. Our Career and Technology Studies (CTS) students competed hard in disciplines such as culinary, electronics, cosmetology, robotics, web design, digital photography, and robotics. Joane Cardinal-Schubert High School had one of the strongest showings of CBE High Schools at the competition. We would like to thank all our CTS Teachers for their amazing mentorship, guidance, and instruction provided to our competitors and all our CTS students. We would also like to give a special thank you to our CTS teacher who accompanied our students to the event: Mr. Hargreaves, Mr. Wilson, Ms. Mossfeldt, Chef Pavel, and Chef Kari.

Indigenous Student Graduation Celebration

  • When: Friday, May 30 from 2:00PM - 4:30PM
  • Where:  Centennial High School 55 Sun Valley Blvd SE, Calgary, AB
  • How to register: Fill out FORM by May 9.
  • Dress code: Guests may dress formally, traditionally, or in casual clothes
  • Cost: There is no cost to attend.
  • Menu: Buffet lunch of stew (beef and veggie), bannock and salad will be provided.

Work Experience Updates for Semester 2

Work Experience 15-25-35 hours must be completed by June 10th to count for credit this semester. This means that the following must be complete and handed in to Mr. Jorgensen by 16:00 that day:

All Weekly Timesheets, A hard copy of your Employer’s Final Evaluation, and A hard copy of your own Student Employee Self Evaluation

If you have not done a mid-semester self-evaluation and site visit while you have been working yet this semester, please let Mr. Jorgensen (kjjorgensen@cbe.ab.ca) know ASAP so that he may schedule one.

Summer Work Experience 2025 Sign-Up with Chinook Learning

The Chinook Off-campus Application Packages are fillable using your computer's keyboard and mouse. Download the application package and save it to your computer. Complete the fillable fields, then print a hard copy to sign and date.

Use the the following link, Chinook Off-campus Work Experience Application Package Summer  or go to the Chinook learning Website to access the forms. All forms must be submitted by email to: CLS-SIS-OC@cbe.ab.ca.

For Work Experience 15-25-35 - Students must complete these forms only after they have a job placement. Deadline is June 13. For more information, please see Mr. Jorgensen in the WE office.

Information from the Student Success Centre

Every student at JCS is enrolled in the Student Success Centre (SSC) D2L shell. Lots of valuable information will be posted there. Students are encouraged to log in and keep up to date with the available information regarding post-secondary applications, university open houses, and scholarships. Students should also review the D2L monthly calendar where various upcoming post-secondary events will be posted.

Course Requests for the 2025-2026 School Year

At this time, students are not able to make changes to the course requests they have entered into PowerSchool for next year. Prior to the end of this semester, an announcement will be made if there is an opportunity for students to make a course change. Check the Raven Post, the Student Success Centre D2L and listen to announcements in the school for more information.

A representative from St. Mary’s University will be set up in the Upper Hub during the lunch hour on Monday, May 12. Stop by and chat with them to learn more about this great university in Calgary!

Diploma Prep Courses - There are several Diploma Prep options available for Grade 12 students who wish to have a comprehensive review prior to writing their diploma exam(s) in June. Options vary in price and are available in-person or online.
