June Exam Schedule

The June 2025 Final Assessment and Exam Schedule is now live on the JCS Website. You can find it on the Exams Page and as a news article on the main page. Please ensure you read over the JCS Student Final Assessment and Exam Expectations and go over it with your student to ensure they do not invalidate their exams.

 Important Year End Items

Educbe Account Deletion – All graduating students' Educbe accounts will be permanently deleted on August 31, 2025. Please ensure that they save any items from the account, inbox, or drive in an alternate location.
Elevator Passes – All elevator passes need to be returned prior to the end of the year. Please return them as soon as they are no longer needed to avoid paying a fine.
Lockers - Students are asked to clean out their locker and return the lock by Friday, June 20. All items must be removed and locks returned to avoid any fines. Locks can be returned to the main office beginning Monday, June 9.
Lost and Found items – All lost and found items will be donated over the summer. Please have your student check to ensure that they have not lost anything.
MyPass – All students will need to set up a MyPass account for Summer School. Grade 12’s will need to create one with their personal email addresses, as they will not have access to their CBE information or educbe email addresses after graduating..
School Fees – All fees are due prior to the end of the school year. Please check your PowerSchool account and ensure that all fees are paid. Accounts may go to collection if they aren’t paid.
Transportation - The express city busses will run in the morning during exams but students will need to find an alternate way home from school.
Viewing of Marks and Report Cards– Marks will be turned off to enable teachers to input grades beginning June 11. All marks and report cards will be available for viewing on June 25. The printing of report cards is available through PowerSchool until July 25.
First Day of School – The first day of school for the 2025-26 school year is September 2.

 Yearbooks

If a student has missed picking up their yearbook, there will be an opportunity to pick them up on June 9 or 10, before and after school in the Yearbook room on the third floor near the learning commons. After June 10, students must check in with the main office to make an appointment with the yearbook team to pick it up. An appointment may not be available on the day the appointment request is made.

Please accept this as notice of the Annual General Meeting of the JCS School Council and the Annual General Meeting of the JCS Parent Society.  These meetings will be held on Thursday, June 12, at 7:00pm.

 For both the JCS School Council and the JCS Parent Society all positions are up for election for the 2025-2026 school year.  You will find a description of the roles within the Operating Procedures and the Bylaws.  It is imperative that we fill all the elected positions as it ensures that we can continue to do the business of each group.  Did you know that through our Parent Society we have been able to support many school requests including science equipment, supported the arts, drama, band and choral programming, purchased sports equipment, and various other requests from the various program areas at JCS.  We would love to have you join us and no experience is necessary.

We will be electing the following positions for the JCS School Council:

Learning Commons

All library books were due back on May 30.

Library books that are not returned will be charged in PowerSchool.

Novel study books and Textbooks are to be returned on the exam day or before if not needed.

Please check PowerSchool for late or lost book charges! Returning the book reverses the charges. There will be library trolleys available in front of the main office and in front of the third floor LC to return your books. Ms. Beauchamp will be available during this time, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any issues concerning Learning Common Resources.

Work Experience

A friendly reminder of the following for wrapping up Work Experience this year:
All Timesheets and a final Year End Evaluation are due on June 10.
If you wish to collect hours over the summer, please stop at the Work Experience office and scan the QR code for Chinook Learning that is posted on the wall.
All Grade 10 and 11 Work Experience students must either visit Mr. Jorgensen in person or send him an email stating where you would like your Work Experience credits to go this year. Anything less than 3 credits can be banked until next year, but 3 and more must be allocated to a 15, 25 or 35 level on your transcript. Again, this deadline is June 10.
All this information is posted outside of the Work Experience office in the 3rd floor learning commons.

 Information from the Student Success Centre

Every student at JCS is enrolled in the Student Success Centre (SSC) D2L shell. Lots of valuable information will be posted there. Students are encouraged to log in and keep up to date with the available information regarding post-secondary applications, university open houses, and scholarships. Students should also review the D2L monthly calendar where various upcoming post-secondary events will be posted.

Course Change Requests for the 2025-2026 School Year

From Monday, May 26 to Friday May 30, all current Grade 10 & 11 students had the opportunity to submit a form to the Main Office if they wanted to make a change to their course requests for next year.  At this time, there will be no further opportunities for students to request a change to their course requests until timetables are available at the end of August.

Diploma Prep Courses - There are several Diploma Prep options available for Grade 12 students who wish to have a comprehensive review prior to writing their diploma exam(s) in June.  Options vary in price and are available in-person or online. 

CBE Summer School – Registration for CBE Summer School has now closedOnce course requests have been entered and accepted by CBE Summer School, notifications will be emailed to students/guardians during the week of June 2 – 6 (for those who completed the request form).
