Polling Station
JCS will be hosting a polling station Monday, April 28 in the auxiliary gym. This will impact parking in the student lot. Please advise your students to take the bus, park on the street or carpool with friends that day
Craven Cafe Closure
Craven Cafe will be closed May 6-8 due to our culinary teachers being away for Skills in Edmonton. Please make alternate arrangements for lunch during this time.
LAST CALL for Graduation Ceremony Tickets
The final opportunity to pick up ceremony tickets for students on the graduation list is Monday, April 28, between 8:00 am and 8:15 am. After this time, we will assume that the student does not wish to participate in the graduation ceremony and will reassign their tickets to students who have requested additional tickets.
School Council Meeting
The next School Council meeting will be held on June 12. Please keep in mind that this meeting is the AGM.

Information from the Student Success Centre
Every student at JCS is enrolled in the Student Success Centre (SSC) D2L shell. Lots of valuable information will be posted there. Students are encouraged to log in and keep up to date with the available information regarding post-secondary applications, university open houses, and scholarships. Students should also review the D2L monthly calendar where various upcoming post-secondary events will be posted.
2025 Summer School Information
Prior to submitting a course request for summer school, please familiarize yourself with the following information provided by CBE Summer School:
- Students need to log in to the Student Success Centre D2L and use the link provided to request a summer school course.
- The form to request a summer school course will open Thursday, April 17 at 8:00am and close on Thursday, May 1 at 4:00pm
- Summer School runs from July 2 - 25, 2025
- Students may register for a maximum of one course for summer school.
- Students must choose between online or in-person.
- View Core & Option Courses for a list of available courses.
- Once course requests have been entered and accepted by CBE Summer School, notifications will be emailed to students/guardians the week of June 2-6.
- No course changes or substitutions will be accepted after requests have been entered. Students must make sure of their course choice at the time of entry.
- Each day of summer school is equivalent to one week during a semester in high school. Students are expected to attend every class as scheduled and must be present on the last day of class to write the final exam. Final exams cannot be rescheduled.
- Withdrawals are accepted and must be communicated immediately to your Student Advisor in the Student Success Centre.
- The Withdrawal Deadline is July 11. After the withdrawal deadline, students will remain on the class list and the mark they have earned will appear on their transcript.
- When a student requests to take a course in summer school, that course will be removed from their course requests for the fall at JCS.
- There is no guarantee students taking a course above grade level (eg. Grade 10 student taking Social 20-1) will be able to enrol in the 30-level course (eg. Social 30-1) at JCS in the fall.
Chinook Learning Services In-Person Learning
- Locations for in-person courses: Centennial, Ernest Manning, Forest Lawn, Nelson Mandela and Sir Winston Churchill. In-person classes run from 8:15am to 12:56 pm Monday through Friday.
- Students taking a diploma course must have a myPass account set up.
CBe-learn Online Learning
- Online courses are offered through Brightspace by D2L.
- A laptop or desktop computer is necessary to complete the course successfully.
- Log-in access issues are a risk students may encounter if they plan to travel overseas during summer school and there are no guarantees they will be able to continue to access Brightspace D2L when travelling.
