Remembrance Day
s part of our Remembrance Day ceremony on Thursday, November 7, we would like to honour Veterans and current members of the military who are related to the students and staff of Joane Cardinal-Schubert High School. We will be creating a slide show with pictures of Veterans and military members related to JCS students that will run on the screen in the gym throughout the ceremony to help our students have a personal connection with Remembrance Day. If you would like to participate in this, please send Malynda Kouperman (mrkouperman@cbe.ab.ca) the following before Thursday, October 31, 2024:
•A digital photograph of a family member or close friend who has served in the military • His or her name • Where he or she served • How veteran is related to you or your student (and the student’s name) • Any other relevant information you would like to share **Please note that if you sent a photo last year, you do not have to re-send, as we will be adding to last year’s photo presentation. Thank you! JCS Remembrance Day Committee

Tamp or Treat
JCS Student Council has a new initiative for the month of October: Tamp-Or-Treat! We would like to support our community by funding all menstruating individuals, in both the JCS campus and the neighboring Calgary Public Library. Our goal is to reach $1000 to fund the CPL with sanitary products for a month as well as physical donations of pads, tampons, etc, in order to stock JCS for the 2024-2025 school year. Many teachers have been purchasing pads and tampons so that students can have access to them if needed. We hope that through this fundraiser, students will have the supplies they need without missing classes or teachers taking on the cost. For the month of October, we will be taking contributions two ways: You can donate online using this link, all online donations go directly to the CPL. In the ‘leave a comment’ field, please enter “JCS Donation,” this way we can track our donations with the library. You can donate physical items (pads, liners, or tampons) to the office. There is a box for your donations and a small ‘treat’ available to show our gratitude. All donations are appreciated. If you would like to make any cash donations directly to the school, there will be an envelope in the office. These funds will be used to purchase physical products as needed. (Please email Ms. Hornick if there are any additional questions.) If you were in a UTErus, contribUTE! JCS Student Council
