Field Trips within Walking Distance

The CBE values the educational benefit of field trips. Field trips close to our school can complement classroom learning by giving students opportunities to explore the community around their school.

Please be advised the process for trips within walking distance of the school has been simplified, excluding restricted activities, e.g. swimming. Please see the JCS Walking Distance Trip Letter for more information.

For more information about field trips and other off-site activities, please see the Off-Site Activities page of the school website.

Video Surveillance Notice

Our school has a video surveillance system to help maintain a safe and secure environment at the school for students, staff and the public, and to help address vandalism and criminal activity on school property.

The video surveillance system is installed and reviewed in accordance with Administrative Regulation 1066. Personal information is collected under the authority of the Education Act and the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA), specifically section 10(1) and the Access to Information Act (ATIA) .

This technology can be placed in areas such as the school parking lot, building entrances and exits, stairwells and hallways. This information is recorded and collected to help maintain a safe and secure environment in the school and on school property. The users of this information are the principal or designate and law enforcement personnel in the case of reported incidents that would require an investigation. Only authorized persons will review video surveillance information.

Inquiries concerning the video surveillance system, or the collection and use of recorded information may be made by contacting the school office.

Music Parents Association

Attention Music Parents!  Please check out the new Music Parents Association website www.jcsmpa.ca and subscribe to receive our emails with important information about fundraisers, Music Money, and opportunities to volunteer.  We are actively recruiting new board members prior to the AGM/travel meeting on September 23 to fill a variety of roles.  Whether you have a lot or a little time to spare, there is a place for you to share your expertise and talents!  Please email the MPA at jcsmpa@gmail.com for more information.

Lockers

Students were provided a link in the grade level assemblies on Friday September 4 to request lockers. Given the limited number of lockers at JCS, students will be required to request a locker with a partner. Student who still need to request a locker should stop by the main office to utilize the QR code there.

Student Parking Passes

Parents must complete the Parking Pass Application form, after the completed form has been submitted, a charge of $50 will be added to the students PowerSchool fees. The fee may take 1-2 business days to appear.

A parking fee appearing in the MYCBE account is confirmation that they will receive a pass. Once the online payment is complete, they will be issued a parking pass in the Main Office. Parking fees include GST, and are as follows:

·        Full Year (Sept to June) $50

·        Semester One (Sept to Jan) $25
